"One Gujarat, One Dialysis"

The A-ONE Dialysis Program, a government of Gujarat initiative was conceptualized in 2010 under the leadership of the Chief Minister and now our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. From the humble beginnings of ADP at the institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) under the leadership of the late Dr. H. L. Trivedi, the program is expanded now. It is a network of over 161 Centers set up with more than 800+ high-quality dialysis machines across Gujarat. As people worry about the future of their near and dear ones who suffer serious renal conditions, we are required to reassure them. There is also a need to reassure doctors that for their patients, help is not far.

The Gujarat government or implementor IKDRC is not resting on the laurel of treating tens or thousands of patients. We shall not rest till the network becomes denser and every patient feels the comfort of the hum of a dialysis machine nearby. To map our road to good health we need to look at best practices and the road traversed so far.

ADP has already proved to be the Gujarat Model for high-quality dialysis. Now, on the way shown by The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Dialysis Program, it can be replicated across the country.

  • ADP is the dream project of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with a vision to provide dialysis facility within 30-40 km distance from patient’s home in Gujarat. IKDRC will start 20 new dialysis departments in the next financial year 2021-22 to provide home dialysis service to kidney patients.
  • The Institute of Kidney Disease and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, in collaboration with the state government, is the largest dialysis network in the country in terms of number of dialysis machines and dialysis sessions offered to patients.
  • The Government of Gujarat is at the forefront of the state-run A-ONE Dialysis Programme in providing high quality dialysis services as per international guidelines.
  • A total of 161 advanced dialysis centres are functioning in 33 districts of Gujarat under A-ONE Dialysis Programme. At present, a total of 800+ dialysis machines are functioning in these 161 dialysis centres. A total of 2,64,167 dialysis has been done during the last financial year 2020-21 and nearly 15 lakh dialysis sessions completed since its inception.
  • Single use dialysers and blood tubings has been made mandatory for every dialysis session making ADP the only dialysis network in the country to adopt internationally accepted standards. Gujarat is only state in the country to provide this unique facility free of cost.
  • Each and every ADP centre is centrally monitored by IKDRC, Ahmedabad and data reports are evaluated at three different levels to ensure better dialysis care for best outcomes.
  • Regular educational and awareness programmes are organized for technicians and patients. Nephrologist visit at every ADP center on regular intervals.
  • Fully automated and Dedicated RO Plant is used for dialysis, which provides online information on water neutrality. ADP use an internationally recognized PEX pipe without a single joint for the connection of dialysis machine to RO plant, nullifying germination of any kind of bacteria.
  • During last two waves of corona, a total of 7669 dialysis of corona infected patients were dialysed by IKDRC between April 2020 and December 2021 in Gujarat, which is the highest number of dialysis compared to other states and countries.
  • Mobile Dialysis Van has been introduced for private/trust hospitals where corona patients get treated without dialysis facilities. MDV services dialysed 149 patients at their hospital beds till December 2021.
